thoughts on blue like jazz
what a seriously incredible book. i would honestly recommend it to anyone without hesitation. it is so honest and raw and intimate. it's basically the author's journey through discovering what Christian spirituality is through doubts, hang-ups, epiphanies, revelations and all sorts of wild experiences. i laughed many times, and i even teared up a few times in agreement with some of the beautiful truths he communicated. if i had read it with a high lighter, that book would be as neon as a bar window. the style was very reminiscent of the catcher in the rye, and at the end you find out the author/narrator's favorite book is in fact catcher in the rye. if i were to write a book, i am fairly certain it would be stylistically similar to this one. almost stream of consciousness-esque. i loved it.
I want a white house with blue shutters...
watching the notebook right now. i can say with confidence that i will never get sick of this movie. or grow immune to the emotional roller-coaster it always puts me on. watching it this time, i think my favorite scene is when they go to the windsor plantation. not the awk love scene but the part in the beginning when she tells him what she wants in the house, and he promises it to her. just the way he looks at her and smiles in his subtle noah way like he couldn't ask for anything better than for her to be a part of his future. if you are judging me right now, i suppose i deserve that for being such an emotional softy. but i love this movie and i just realized how much i adore that scene. and if you haven't watched this video, do it now. also, if you have watched this video, just watch it again. i may or may not have blogged it before. i mean, does it get any better than taylor swift and the notebook combined into 2 minutes and 26 seconds of perfection?
This is summer
I love being able to read without the stress of having to write a paper on it or be tested on it. Loving this sunshine and this adorable neighborhood park. A perfect last day on Berkeley. Never thought I would say this, but I think I'm gonna miss this crazy town.

Korean BBQ
So I usually think that food blogs are boring and silly but I went to a Korean restaurant two nights ago for the first time for my friend Frances's graduation dinner and decided I needed to blog about it. Let me tell you, it was unlike any other culinary experience I have had. First they brought us these super cute soups. The soup was served cold, which was kind of quizzical.
Then, while said friend's boyfriend Joe was praying for the meal and all sorts of other things, these little cuties arrived on our tables like manna from heaven. An entire set for three or four people max; I think there were 7 sets total. So much food.
And then came our actual meals that we ordered. After we were already half way stuffed. I got bi bop bim or something like that. Basically sauteed veggies and chicken, which turned out to actually be beef, over glass noodles (I think).
AND THEN came our own personal rice dishes. So quaint.
The entire table was covered in tasty food that everyone was sharing. Love that style. below left: fried "pancakes" with all sorts of yummy stuff. these were probably my favorite.
OH!! And the other table opted for an all you can eat, cook it yourself meat extravaganza. The stoves were IN the table!!
It was super fun and it was nice to have people there who knew what everything was, because I certainly didn't, especially in the little appetizer dishes. I felt like a weirdo taking pictures of everything but it was so new and exciting that I just had to.
